I know, I know…I can hear you now. Technically Summer has a few more weeks to go. But to me, the end of a season has more to do with certain events than it does to a date on the calendar. Normally I think Labor Day is the end of Summer, but for some reason, it seems to feel as if it’s ended already. When did kids start going back to school the first week of August?!?!?!? I don’t have children, so one would think that this wouldn’t impact me. They’d be wrong! What I do have is a TON of nieces and nephews – and a very popular backyard pool. It’s been weeks since I’ve heard laughter and squeals coming from outside while I labor away in my office. We haven’t closed the pool yet – the weekend still brings the kids. But last night it went down to 59 degrees!!!! FIFTY-NINE!!! See what I mean by a date on the calendar not being able to predict the season?

I don’t like cold weather. I read that the Farmers’ Almanac has predicted a mild, wet winter for the state of Tennessee. That sounds pleasant to me – as long as we get a few cold snaps to kill the bugs for next summer. Here’s to dreaming of warmer days to come…
